Rocky Anderson v. Brady Snyder
By Bryan CathermanDeseret News journalist Brady Snyder has locked horns with Mayor Rocky Anderson.
Jamie Gadette of City Weekly gives us a picture of the situation. The article is located in the December 22, 2005 City Weekly, “Stop the Presses!” page 14 (Volume 22, Number 31). http://www.slweekly.com/editorial/2005/CityWeek_1_2005-12-22.cfm
In a nutshell, Snyder digs into some spending on Rocky’s part. It may or may not be appropriate spending, but there is reason to believe it sparks an investigation. Rocky gets mad at the press, and writes a 10-page memo (2-sided) to the Deseret News, which employs Snyder. Rocky complains that the paper isn’t covering the stories he wants and doesn’t like the stories they are covering. He claims that Snyder has a bias. Rocky cuts off access to Snyder and the paper. Interestingly enough, Rocky claims he believes in free press… but I guess that only applies when it’s not aimed at him.
